Sciton BBL

SKIN REJUVENATION REFEFINED

BBL (Broadband Light) by Sciton

One of the standout treatments offered by the Sciton Joule platform is BBL (BroadBand Light), an advanced, non-invasive light-based therapy that targets multiple layers of the skin with precision and comfort. BBL uses pulsed light energy to treat a wide variety of skin concerns, including sun damage, age spots, freckles, rosacea-related redness, broken capillaries, visible veins, and active acne. It gently heats the upper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production while accelerating the body’s natural skin cell turnover.
BBL not only addresses discoloration and redness but also reduces fine lines, refines pores, improves skin texture, and restores youthful vibrance. It’s a versatile treatment that can be customized for the face, neck, chest, hands, and even body areas, with settings tailored to your skin type and goals.
With little to no downtime, patients love BBL for its quick treatments, visible results, and the added benefit of preventative anti-aging effects when done regularly. Often referred to as the gold standard for photorejuvenation, BBL leaves your skin clearer, firmer, and naturally glowing.

FAQ

BBL stands for BroadBand Light, a form of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy developed by Sciton. It uses advanced light energy to correct skin imperfections and stimulate collagen production.

BBL is effective for:

  • Sun damage & age spots
  • Freckles & hyperpigmentation
  • Redness & rosacea
  • Broken capillaries & spider veins
  • Active acne & acne scarring
  • Uneven skin tone & texture
  • Fine lines

BBL is safe and effective on the:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Chest (décolletage)
  • Hands
  • Arms

BBL delivers pulses of light that gently heat the skin’s surface and underlying layers. This process:

  • Targets melanin and blood vessels to reduce pigmentation and redness
  • Stimulates collagen and elastin for firmer, smoother skin
  • Promotes cellular turnover for a refreshed look

Is the treatment painful?

Most patients describe BBL as a mild, snapping sensation, similar to a rubber band. A cooling sapphire crystal on the applicator helps keep the treatment comfortable. Numbing cream is optional but rarely needed.

A typical BBL session lasts 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the treatment area and concerns being addressed.

There is minimal to no downtime. Some redness or mild swelling may appear and fade within a few hours. Pigmented spots may darken temporarily before flaking off within 5–7 days.

You may notice brighter, clearer skin within a few days. Full improvements typically appear within 1–2 weeks, with continued enhancement over time as collagen builds.

Absolutely! BBL pairs well with other procedures like Microneedling, Profractional Laser resurfacing, chemical peels, and injectables for a comprehensive skin rejuvenation plan.

BBL works best for lighter to medium skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–IV). A consultation is essential to determine if BBL is appropriate for your specific skin type and goals.

Avoid direct sun exposure, hot showers, and vigorous exercise for 24–48 hours. Use gentle skincare and SPF 30+ daily to protect and prolong your results.
